Best Of Everything.
Joining the bandwagon of chill out cafes is the newly opened Bofe Eatery located in Seksyen 19. Situated right beside Mungo Jerry and facing the main road from Seksyen 13 towards SS2, one cannot just simply miss out on this place.
The gNOMes were intrigued by the name, what does Bofe mean anyway? Little did we know that acronym actually meant BEST OF EVERYTHING. Now now, that’s a huge expectation to step up to.
Painted in tri-coloured schemes of black, white and teal, both gNOMes immediately took a liking to the soothing colors and lighting. This place will definitely be the hang out place for many once the word goes around.
Typical tables and chairs to cater larger sitting parties, or the island bar counter for those wanting to grab a quick bite and go. Sofas at the corner for one who has all the time in the world to enjoy a cuppa and watch the world go by. This place seems ready for any type of customer.
Even the menus were done so prettily!
Anti Aging (RM8). A blend of lime, mango, papaya and pineapple for the gerascophobic. Fruit juices here are without added sugar and water. Now, that’s what the gNOMes would pay for. Pure fruit juices. Delicious and refreshing.
Vodka Infused Crab Canapes (RM12). A chef specialty. A perfect combination of fresh crab meat, salsa, fish roe with a tinge of vodka on top of a piece of crunchy biscuit. The whole combination was indeed delightful, thanks to the luscious fresh crab meat. Due to the crab meat, these canapes retain a very distinct seafood flavor. Note that this is a cold dish. Overall it was a good way to kickstart the meal.
Truffle Fries (RM8.90). Straight cut fries with a dash of truffles oil and parmesan cheese. These fries looked nothing special when it came. However after taking the first bite, it was clear that these fries are not your usual run-of-the-mill fast food fries. These actually had the fragrance of truffle oil and all the taste of lightly-salted french fries (not the McDonald’s saltiness). Add a fairly decent amount of parmesan cheese sprinkles, it was a good contrast to the earlier dish. Now, expectations were going up for the main courses.
Lamb Chop (RM25). Pan fried lamb chop served with mint sauce, vegetables and mash. One word: Tender. The meat was slightly on the bloody side (generally how gNOMe 1 eats), tender, juicy and well-seasoned. The sauce was neither thick nor diluted, nor was it overly salty. Everything seemed to be in the right proportions. gNOMe 1 really appreciated the mint leaves which gave it a rather appealing freshness. Dip the mashed potatoes into the sauce if you don’t really fancy your potatoes plain.
Goma Duck Breast (RM25). Pan fried duck breast served with mash potatoes and roasted sesame sauce. 5 pieces of succulent smoked duck breast that is enough to whip up one’s appetite. The duck was beautifully done, with an aromatic smoky flavour while retaining it’s juicy and tender texture. The duck was smoked in a manner whereby the fat retained moisture and absorbed the smoky flavour well. Such an intricate dish! The sesame sauce was fragrant enough to complement the duck nicely. Mashed potatoes were very lightly seasoned as not to take away the spotlight from the duck breast.
Tiramisu (RM8). Dessert was rich in coffee with a rather heavy layer of mascarpone cheese + whipping cream. This dessert is indeed filling, the gNOMes would recommend sharing or opt for another dessert if one is already full from their mains.
Verdict : This place has all the ingredients (pun not intended) to be a really awesome “chill out” place. The food is good, the service is excellent and you would probably never see a waiter/waitress there who isn’t friendly and accommodating to your requests. Keep this up and this place could be quite a frequent haunt for the gNOMes. Overall, this place gets the thumbs up from the gNOMes. 🙂
