Grilled Cheese Sandwich has always been part and parcel of our diet. Whipping up a melted grilled cheese on a lazy Sunday is no stranger to both gNOMes. So, imagine our immense joy when we stumbled upon this grilled cheese American-ish diner at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara on an evening.
The owners were inspired by a trip to the States where they learned the art of the grilled cheese sandwich. Since this was a rather impromptu visit, the gNOMes were completely caught off-guard and were not armed with their trusty usual camera. At that point, the restaurant had only been opened no more than a week, with decent decor and ambiance. The question is, is it worth paying for a cheese sandwich?
Oreo Milkshake (RM7.90).
BBQ Pulled Chicken Melt (RM11.90) with Additional Cheese (RM1.90). A power packed grilled cheese combo of home made BBQ pulled chicken, Mac n Cheese and Cheddar. Additional cheese was necessary, since we learned from previous experience that it took TRIPLE cheese just to be able to taste that full melted cheese bite. The BBQ sauce was certainly unique, and not one you would be able to find in a bottle. Marination made the chicken taste delightful. Mac n Cheese certainly complemented the sandwich well. Only thing was that the gNOMes could have done with slightly more butter on the bread to make it more crispy, or perhaps a slightly different variation of cheese, like edam for example.
Tomato Sriracha Chicken Quesadilla (RM10.90) with Additional Cheese (RM1.90). Besides grilled cheese, Flaming Melt serves quesadillas with sriracha pepper, which seems to be popular in the States. This was definitely CHEESY. The gNOMes rather enjoyed the extra cheese provided as the thin bread allowed the cheese to be the main star.
Verdict : Definitely an interesting one to look out for. They are still new and in the midst of experimentation. Perhaps after gauging the local flavors they will be looking to bring in different variants of cheese. As for the question of whether it is worth paying for cheese sandwiches, we guess it is only fair for us to reserve that judgment after trying more! As of now, both gNOMes are pleased with what they had and will definitely make another trip back. 😀 Check out their Banana Nutella Melt for desserts as well!
