Metal Box, Empire Damansara, Damansara Perdana

Hiya gNOMers! Today we bring to you a hidden gem located at Empire Damansara, Damansara Perdana. This place was first introduced to us by a fellow good friend and food blogger, non other than Spicy Sharon 😀

Unveiled its’ doors to the public back in September 2014, Metal Box brings in the concept of industrial containers with a mix of modern interior decor.

If you want the bright blue sky, and having a pleasant meal over a good book and a cup of joe, head over outside. But since this side faces the main road whereby cars do U-turn to Empire’s parking lot, so do expect some cars zooming by at times.

Metal Box’s menu on display at their main entrance.

Carrot Juice With/Without Milk [RM 8.90]

Since both gNOMes are feeling so ever proud for waking up early on a Saturday morning for a hearty breakfast, we are going to start the day with juices! Carrot juice has always been our favorite, the ones here are freshly pressed and yummy!

Metal-Box’s Baked Egg [RM 18.90]

What’s a hearty breakfast without eggs? Be it scrambled, sunny side up’s, Benedict or poached, not having eggs for breakfast is an abomination! gNOMe 2 decided to have their signature baked eggs, a pot of beautifully baked 2 free-range eggs, slices of smoked chicken breast, diced chicken sausages, potatotes, eggplant, homemade cannellinni beans in tomato coulis topped with freshly grated gruyere cheese and served with two pieces of freshly baked french sour dough.

We know, the description is a mouthful eh? ORDER THIS! Really, we had no expectations and this dish blew us away. So, so yummy and healthy at the same time! The chicken breasts and sausages added a nice touch to this egg-y dish, and the gruyere cheese just seals it all up. 🙂

Specialty French Toast [RM 15.90]

French toasts have always been gNOMe 1’s choice of breakfast. Another signature dish by Metal Box, this french toast is coated with nestum then pan-seared till golden brown, served with mixed berries coulis, diced peach, roasted pistachios & a shot of gula melaka.

What an interesting combination we say!

The french toasts were fluffy and had a rather crunchy outside layer yet retaining the softness inside. The combination of mixed berries coulis, diced peaches and roasted pistachios gave an interesting side kick to the french toast. A blend of sweet + sour combination. And the shot of gula melaka is brilliantly thought to replace the existence of maple syrup.

Verdict : Although the bill came up to about close to RM60, but we felt every penny was oh-so-worth it. Nevertheless, the gNOMes will definitely swing by again in the future for a hearty breakfast. Interesting menu with an exquisite touch coupled with fresh ingredients is a recipe for hearty breakfasts/brunches. 😀
