A planned dinner at Jeq’s took a detour instead. Not noticing that Jeq’s usually closes on Tuesdays (silly us!), we had to settle with The Humble Pie Co instead since we have already arrived in that vicinity.
Having thought this “Only pies for dinner?“, both gNOMes were adamant in getting substantial food for dinner. Guess we aren’t ang moh enough to only rely on pies and salads for dinner. And guess what, The Humble Pie Co does serve dinner. Woo hoo! 😀
The interior spots rather simple, down to earth decor while the orange colored grills being the most prominent feature in this place.
Pies for sale!
Pies later, ala carte orders first!
Pandan Kiwi Apple Herbed Iced Tea [RM 9]
Well, the only thing we can say about this is that you get what you order. A little odd, since the pandan taste was very strong, over the other ingredients. Perhaps having a “Kiwi Apple” or “Pandan” flavor Iced Tea would be awesome!
Pesto Rigatoni with Shredded Roast Chicken [RM 20]
Hand chopped pesto of basil, sun-dried tomato, garlic, pine nuts in extra virgin olive oil topped with shaved Parmesan cheese with Bellaluca Rigatoni. This dish is indeed comforting, however, it wasn’t there to deliver the punch. Pasta was cooked al dente, pesto sauce was flavourful. But the sun-dried tomatoes were missing from the whole combo! 😦 Guess that’s what that’s lacking.
Lamb Sausage Lasagna [RM 23]
Sailor’s lamb sausage stewed in house tomato sauce, baked with Bellaluca lasagna, bechamel sauce, nutmeg, fresh basil, mild cheddar and Parmesan and served with side salad. The lamb sausage was well-seasoned and tender, and the cheese was apparent in the whole mix, making this quite a decent offering. Nevertheless the gNOMes found that it would have been better if the tomato taste was a little more apparent, while the whole mix was a tad too mushy for our liking.
Musang King Durian Pie [RM 15]
This is one of the more popular items on the menu, and rightly so! Although mixed with cream durian, the generous servings of musang king durian at its core makes this a yum treat!
Verdict : True to its name, the pie is good here! The Musang King tag adds a few $$ to the pie, but it is worth trying and going for once in a while. After all, it’s Musang King eh? Mains are rather decent, good to grab a bite if you are too hungry waiting for your company to arrive. 🙂
