Cafe Lafayette, Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya

Having recently signed up for Japanese classes (ahem! こんにちは! 😀) at Damansara Uptown has enabled both gNOMes to explore Uptown even better. Both gNOMes pass by Uptown literally everyday, so finding hidden gems are always a plus point.

After contemplating on where to have lunch, the gNOMes finally settled with the place called Cafe Lafayette, nestled on the first floor a few doors down from Frisson Coffee Bar. Be on a lookout for their signage as below as not to miss them. *same row as Fat Spoon as well

Run by a team of friendly youngsters, La Fayette is only about 4 months old. They are rather new in the cafe scene.

Cafe Lafayette is blissfully shielded from hippie youngsters and hipsters (since they are rather new), thus making it a very comfy and cozy place to dine and unwind. Grab a book, order a main and unwind in your own fantasies.

Nutella Latte [RM 13.00]

Ever since gNOMe 2 got hooked on Petit Noms’ Nutty-Ella, she has constantly been on a lookout for Nutella based latte. The Nutella used in this cuppa is on the generous side, so expect a sweet, chocolate-y cup of Joe. gNOMe 2 loves Nutella, so although lacking in coffee, she enjoys this sweet cup of latte.

Siphon Coffee [RM 15.00]

What better way to enjoy your coffee than to have the maximum clarity of flavors, right? Using a siphon extraction method which takes approximately 15 minutes, the result is 2 shot glasses full of fragrant coffee. The flavor intensity makes it a sin to even modify the taste of it with anything else.

Beef Bacon Risotto [RM 18.90]

This dish is wonderfully served with assorted mushrooms, with bacon adding a smoky flavor to the party. The result is a well-done risotto that is fragrant to every bite. The texture of the rice is excellent as well. Yums.

Caesar Salad [RM 12.90]

Lafayette’s Caesar salad consists of crunchy Romaince lettuce, beef bacon bits, croutons, capsicum, tomatoes, shredded carrot and is finally topped off with sprinkled parmesan cheese. Greens were indeed fresh and crunchy, with a generous amount of bacon bits and parmesan. A healthy alternative if one’s on a strict diet.

Verdict : Quite a nice and comfortable spot to enjoy your coffee and meal. The gNOMes enjoyed the food as well. The only fear for this place is that it would be lost in the flurry of cafes hitting the streets these days.

  1. I’ve passed by this cafe several times especially when I eat at Fat Spoon but haven’t had the chance to try it out yet. The Siphon Coffee looks interesting and I sure like some strong flavors in my coffee!
