Frisson Coffee Bar, Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya

We have finally managed to step foot into Frisson on one fine day. Located at Damansara Uptown alongside The Good Batch, Fat Spoon and La Fayette, Frisson is now around half a year old.

Joining the bandwagon of cafes that are mushrooming non stop around the Klang Valley area, Frisson serves typical cafe food and coffee like one would expect.

And since we were there on a weekday, we managed to catch hold of their weekday Set Lunches. With that being said, Ala Carte orders are also available. We were greeted by smiling, friendly waiters and waitresses which made us feel welcomed once we stepped foot into Frisson.

Toasted Hazelnut Latte [RM 12.00]

When the gNOMes saw the foam had some huge bubbles in it, the impression wasn’t so good. The foam tasted rather bitter, which didn’t go down too well with us. Ultimately the whole cup didn’t quite live up to what one would expect from a coffee bar.

Eggplant Pasta [RM 14.90]

gNOMe 2 had the Eggplant Pasta, one of the choices from the weekday Set Lunches. Order a set lunch and be rewarded with a free cup of tea or a bottle of juice. Craving for coffee? Top up another RM 3 for a cup of Joe.

The Eggplant Pasta was good, much to our surprise. The tomato based sauce was well seasoned and bursting with flavours though the pasta was a tad overcooked, lacking the al dente touch we usually seek for in our plate of pasta. Cubed eggplants were present in this dish, though we wouldn’t mind to have more in this dish. πŸ™‚

Baked Breakfast In A Pot [RM 23.90]

A choice of minced beef with vegetables baked in a pot or only vegetables baked in a pot for the vegetarians with both choices topped with a sunny side up. The baked breakfast is then served with two slices of cranberry bread.

Both gNOMes felt that the baked eggs were slightly pricey, comparing to the portion that came with it. Overall, the baked eggs emitted a close to hearty feel, and if we had to choose, we’d go for the ones at Metalbox instead. πŸ™‚

Verdict : Overall this was fairly average. The highlight was the baked breakfast in a pot, but the gNOMes were left disappointed by the coffee. It is however a nice place for photography with very nice interior colors and decor.
