Brûlée Brasserie, Casa Tropicana, Petaling Jaya

3 cheers to a newly opened café in the neighbourhood.

This new place is located at Casa Tropicana (just right above KK Mart and beside Bubble Gum Nail). It isn’t that hard to find, just drive yourself to Casa Tropicana and keep your eyes peeled on KK Mart. Right above, ta-da!, is Brûlée Brasserie. 🙂

Brûlée Brasserie shares a lot with Bubble Gum Nail, so the place is a tad tiny. But nevertheless, the place still emits the ambiance of a cozy and quaint cafe.

Check out that industrial rustic design in there!

This place dishes up Mediterranean cuisine which is sure to tantalize one’s taste buds. Keeping their menu small, Brûlée Brasserie currently serves 6 types of mains. Their menu will most likely be changed/revised once every month.

The mixture of beans used by Brûlée Brasserie in general has a little bit of a strong, dark roast flavor to it, as well as being on the acidic side. Being served with double shot espresso, this is generally seen to be having a distinctly strong taste. Nevertheless, it is complemented by smoothly-steamed Farmfresh milk (the gNOMes’ favorite), which makes it smooth enough to enjoy.

Brûlée Milk Tea [RM 9.00]

This drink immediately caught our attention, something which one can’t find easily anywhere. Simply put, this glass of milk tea has the essence of creme brûlée mixed beautifully with Farm Fresh milk. This milk tea instantly blew us away; fragrant, milky yet not too sweet and has the correct ‘body‘ of which a good milk tea should have.

Egg White Frittata [RM 8.00]

This Mediterranean delight is served with a very nicely made tomato-based sauce, with Lebanese bread to top it off. The tomato sauce is fantastic, and the gNOMes were fighting to finish it. While the egg itself had a delightful mix, with the garlic taste particularly appealing to us. Priced at RM 8, this particular dish is highly recommended!

Roasted Broccoli Soup [RM 8.00]

The gNOMes had high expectations for this soup, however it appeared to be slightly lacking in smoothness and creaminess. It was one of the rare dishes that could use some perfecting. On the other hand, the broccoli purée had an evident roasting flavour in it.

Basil Pomodoro [RM 16.00]

Lots of love put into this plate. Although the linguine wasn’t too al dente and a little on the soggy side, the sauce made it all negligible. The gNOMes would describe this sauce as being perfectly-balanced, with all ingredients in their right proportions.

Chicken Souvlaki [RM 15.00]

This was another dish to savor, and it showcased the ability of the chef in marination and seasoning. The chicken souvlaki was delightfully juicy and having the right fragrance and taste, while the sides of baked potatoes and broccoli provided the perfect supporting act.

Lebanese Pan Pizza [RM 8.00]

Ahh, pizza on Lebanese bread. How creative! This pizza actually surprised the gNOMes. The toppings were everything we wanted on pizza, while having the optimum amount of melted parmesan cheese. Yum!

Vanilla Zest Creme Brûlée [RM 7.00]

While the Brulee Milk Tea was absolutely impressive, the gNOMes expected a superb Creme Brulee. Unfortunately it wasn’t to our liking, as the sweetness was only limited to the caramel but not present within the creme below. Perhaps it may have been an off-day.

Verdict : Overall, a very nice place to hangout, with a comfy feel to it. The food is delightful, as is the Brulee Milk Tea. Reasonably-priced for cafe food as well! Come for the food, stay for the conversation as the owner (when not understaffed!) is a more than accommodating host. Pork-Free (serves beer on request).
