Restaurant Goon Wah, Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya

Situated just right opposite Atria Shopping Gallery, this famous Claypot XO Fish Head Noodles from Kuchai Lama has been making it’s presence felt among the PJ folks. For the past 18 years, Goon Wah has pride itself by dishing out their famous Claypot XO Fish Head Noodles.

They have since stamped their mark in PJ, opening their first branch in SS Two Mall before relocating to a bigger premise which is just right opposite Atria Shopping Gallery.

Rumors has it that Goon Wah is usually packed to the brim during lunch & dinner hours. So we usually opt for a late dinner if we were to dine there. Getting a table after 8:30 PM is downright easy. Likewise, getting a parking space around DJ area around that time isn’t much of a hassle as well.

Guinnessย Stout Chicken Wings [RM 11.90]

The sweet and savoury combination of thick sauce on a plate of well-cooked yet juicy chicken wings for the whole family to savour. The gNOMes recommend this dish to those wanting some finger food.

Claypot XO Fish Head Noodles [RM 13.50]

The signature dish of this restaurant. Perhaps it could use more “XO”, but this fish head noodles is blessed with thoroughly comforting soup. A little on the salty and sourish side, and fresh fish head imported all the way from New Zealand. This is the gNOMes’ favorite here. Oh and the best thing of all is that they are very generous with their soup refills. ๐Ÿ˜€ Their home made chilli goes very well with the noodles. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kong Nam Noodles [RM 13.90]

A plate of deep fried noodles with gravy topped with broccoli, mushrooms, corns, white cabbage and meat. The gravy has a sourish twang to it as there were pickles thrown in. Not the best we have tasted, but of course, a good side order to accompany the XO Claypot Fish Head Noodles.ย Patrons can also opt for their Claypot Loh Shu Fan which is very highly recommended by friends and foodies alike.

Verdict : A place for family dinners and comforting meals, especially on rainy days. Generous with their soup and service, this is a recommended place.
