We saw long, snaking queues outside of Live It Up!. What’s happening? We guess the kaypo-ness of Malaysians do have its’ pros as well. The nearer we got, we realized that people were actually queuing up for a slice of Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake. Oh well, Malaysians only queue for 2 things in particular : food or freebies. 😛
Anyway, Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecakes are sold whole, not in slices. Besides their signature cheesecakes, Uncle Tetsu also has Uncle Tetsu Cheese Zuccutto (Hat Series) and Uncle Tetsu Cheese Stick Rusk for sale.
We wanted to try the Cheese Stick Rusk but unfortunately, they ran out of it by 2000 hours on a Monday night. 😦
We noticed that they only bake 12 whole cheesecakes everytime, so be prepared to wait some time before you get your hands on these. Both gNOMes had to wait for 1.5 hours even though we placed our orders on a Monday night at 2000 hours.
After collecting our cheesecake at 2130 hours, both gNOMes immediately went home to savor a slice of the fresh from the oven cheesecake.
Uncle Tetsu’s Signature Cheesecake [RM19.90]
The cheesecake is recommended to be consumed when hot. If you happen to leave it in the refrigerator over a night, pre heat it in the oven the next day prior to consuming.
Verdict : The cake melts in your mouth the moment you consume it. The cheesiness is also the right amount. A fragrant cake that is worth eating, provided you have at least 1-2 hours to spare waiting.
