Dotty’s, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

So a new bakery has recently opened its’ doors in the TTDI neighborhood. Dishing out pastries and hearty breakfasts to hungry patrons. Nowadays, there are so many new bakeries in the ‘hood, eh?

Dotty's

Just barely two weeks old, Dotty’s located at Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2 alongside Pickle & Fig and Izakaya Kushi Raku. Parking is rather abundant, but getting on a busy weekend morning may proved to be rather challenging. After hearing about their store highlight, we have decided to bump in for a hearty breakfast brunch.

With such beautiful interior deco, and a see through kitchen!, one can literally spend hours here on a fine morning. The place was bustling with such positive vibes when we first step in, and had to wait for a while to be seated. And oh, we were there at 1100 hours.

Most of the items on the menu were sold out!, and of course, most of the pastries by that time were gone too. And only chocolate drink was available. So to save yourself from any heartache, may we suggest for you to walk in much earlier then? 🙂

Baked Eggs [RM 26.00]

Served with beef meatballs and two fresh eggs right above a layer of tomato purée and baked beans, these baked eggs were definitely comforting. Runny egg yolk mixed into the wonderful tomato purée gave it a very satisfying and rich taste, while the meatballs were pleasantly seasoned. A light and fluffy sour dough bread spread with fragrant butter made an excellent accompaniment to this dish.

Oh, the wait for the salted egg yolk cronuts is 30 minutes‘. That was fine by us, as we could dig into the baked eggs first. The first batch came out at 1200 hours instead, and within seconds, the whole batch was snapped up! and thankfully, we managed to get our hands on one.

Salted Egg Yolk Cronut [RM 11.00]

What’s up with the salted egg yolk craze huh? This, we wonder too. Cutting into this salted egg yolk cronut, immediately one can see the salted egg yolk liquid oozing out. Thick and creamy with bits of salted egg yolk. Although it was actually a little cold to the touch, but the pastry on it was excellent. Pastry wise, the thin layers in between were nicely done, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Just one thing more that we needed – perhaps the salted egg taste could’ve been more apparent in this cronut, as it was masked by the sweetness of the mixture.

Verdict : A nice place to hangout and get your fix of salted egg yolk. Bring your friends to share the cronut, otherwise it may become a little too overwhelming when consumed alone. Get on the hype train!
